The List Building Club can be a great path to take in starting an online business.  The video tutorials are in bite-sized sections and walk you through each step in getting your business off and running.  There are, however, some things to watch out for to make sure you get the most bang for your buck.

First, let me say that many are surprised to find that when they sign up for one of the companies ‘Free’ CD’s or DVD’s that they are also signed up for a month trial in the List Building Club.  This is called “Forced Continuity” and is a fairly common marketing practice.  Even ads on the TV have this kind of set-up – think ‘Proactive Solutions’.  That’s a well-known acne treatment, but when you order online, you are also signed up for their monthly replenishment club!  The same is true here.  You get a free CD that talks about how to make money online and with it you also get a 30 day trial to the List Building Club.  BUT, if you have already done your research and are not impulse buying…then this will come as no shock to you.  In fact, the 30 day trial is a great benefit of the Club.  This way, you get a chance to look around and start implementing the instructions before you ever have to pay!

The membership site can lend itself to Information Overload.  The trick is to ignore whatever is on the front page and stick to the video tutorials that show you how to start an online business, set-by step.  You can find those in the left hand menu bar.  And believe me – that’s enough!  There are over 120 video tutorials, ranging from getting your first subscriber, to press releases, to joint ventures, to Social Media and YouTube traffic to outsourcing!  Everything you need is explained and laid out for you to use in starting  your online business.

Remember that each section has several videos that guide you through each step. You simply play the video, then in another tab or window, follow along and do what the video instructs you to do!

There are also 6 membership levels.

1. The Basic Level for $67 per month
2. Gold for $97 per month
3. Gold Plus for $127 per month
4. Platinum for $197 per month
5. Black Diamond for $497 per month and finally…
6. VIP Inner Circle Mastermind level for $3,000 per month!!

Each has a graduating amount of extra information and coaching that you can access…from weekly and monthly calls with experts on particular subjects to Q & A sessions with the List Building Club staff.  The VIP Inner Circle also offers one on one coaching calls where they will help you create action plans and help you move past any blocks you may be having.

There is some flexibility in what level you choose – however, I caution against biting off more than you can chew.  Just because you CAN pay for something, doesn’t mean you SHOULD.  That said, the help given can really propel you into a successful business…IF you actually use it and apply what they teach.  For most, the Basic or Gold levels in the List Building Club have more than enough information to help you in starting an online business.

Another key point is that it is easy to cancel and then start your membership up again.  You simply call or submit a support ticket requesting cancellation and it’s done.  To get started again, you do the same thing, just call or submit a ticket.  While this is very easy to do – many find that they sometimes have lapses when life gets in the way and then they forget about the monthly fees.  This can be very costly!  Why pay $67 or $97 (or more!!) a month for something you are not using?

If you set yourself up on a schedule and stick to it – you really should not need the List Building Club for more than 5 or six months.  My suggestion is to expect to be a member for at least 3 months and make it a goal to be done in about 6 months – that is enough time to get through all the lessons in starting an online business and get to where you are making a profit from your website.
